1 box, 2 box, 3 box ... 50 boxes!
It has been a very busy few months as we prepared to meet our goal of 50 boxes by Christmas. While I always knew we would do it, I was a little unsure of how. Deep down I knew it would happen -- somehow some way. What I didn't understand was the exact HOW. Isn't that often how life is? We know we'll get there, but sometimes the HOW can really get us down. I'm learning to trust that our HOW is really the beauty of life. When we stop worrying about the HOW and start concentrating on DOING, it happens. The HOW just happens. And when it does, it is an amazing thing. I am naturally a big planner, so this is tough. But I'm learning ---- slowly.
After a small plea to our supporters on Facebook (do you "like" our Facebook page? -- if not, you really should!), I sat and watched the HOW unfold before my eyes. I could not believe how fast everyone acted. One bear here, and another there --- and we made it! In fact, we met our goal a few days early! There was one day that EIGHT little boxes were delivered to our doorstep by Amazon, each with one little bear inside. It was amazing, simply amazing. That's what it's all about. The simplest little things coming together to make something quite amazing.
The entire effort culminated in a night of assembling the boxes on December 14th. The girl's youth group from our church wanted a service project for December, and I mentioned my need for a group to assemble boxes. They were anxious to fulfill that need. (It also gave me a date to set for meeting our goal!) My desire is for each mom and dad who opens a box to truly grasp the love that is included inside. At the beginning of the night, I took some time to explain to the girls the importance of what they were doing. It was awesome to feel of their love for what they were doing. They took great care in each box they assembled.
